Envision Solar International, Inc. the leading renewably energized EV charging, outdoor media and energy security products company, has received a follow-on order from a top Southern California University for EV ARC™ products. The campus purchased their first units in March of 2017.
The EV ARC™ stations will be deployed in a public parking lot on campus and will provide free solar electric vehicle (EV) charging for students, faculty, staff and guests. The initial units have proven to successfully provide EV charging for the university. Additional units will increase the availability of free EV charging and align with the university's sustainability initiatives while demonstrating the highly scalable nature of the EV ARC™ product. The university has been able to simply add units as demand increases, without having to do any other infrastructure planning or upgrades and without increasing their utility bill.
The campus' transportation sustainability goals include developing effective GHG reduction plans, sustainable fleet management and transportation demand management programs. The campus fleet is increasingly made up of zero-emission and sustainable fuel vehicles - currently over 45%. Traditional infrastructure impacts related to electrifying a large fleet are not insignificant and can come with large utility bill increases. The university's choice of EV ARC™ products will relieve them of both negative impacts while enabling their fleet to drive on sunshine.

"We are always delighted to get follow on orders," said Desmond Wheatley, President and CEO of Envision, "especially when they come from customers who are in what we believe will be major growth opportunity area for our products. It's a great validation of our technology and our business model."
Researchers estimate that California may need up to 220,000 publicly accessible charging ports by 2020 to meet projected demand, well beyond the roughly 16,000 available today. Hundreds of thousands of additional charging stations will be necessary at multi-unit dwellings. To meet demand, large California universities must invest in EV charging infrastructure in a scalable and sustainable manner. Envision Solar's EV ARC™ product provides a rapidly deployed and highly scalable turn-key solution that delivers solar powered charging with zero impact while lessening the impact of EVs on the grid and, as a result, their utility bills.
Invented and manufactured in California, the patented EV ARC™ fits inside a parking space, but does not reduce available parking, and generates enough clean solar electricity to power up to 225 miles of EV driving in a day. The system's solar electrical generation is enhanced by EnvisionTrak™ which causes the array to follow the sun, generating up to 25% more electricity than a fixed array. The energy is stored in the EV ARC™ product's energy storage for charging day or night, and to provide emergency power during grid failure. Because the EV ARC™ product requires no trenching, foundations or installation work of any kind, it is deployed in minutes and can be moved to a new location with ease. EV ARC™ products are manufactured in the company's San Diego facility by combat veterans, individuals with disabilities, and other minority demographics and highly talented, mission-driven team members.
