Vestas Receives First V150-4.2 MW Orders in North America

Vestas has received the first orders for V150-4.2 MW turbines in North America, as part of 324 MW order for three projects in the USA. The orders include 252 MW of V150-4.2 MW turbines and 72 MW of V136-3.45 turbines delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode. The projects include previously purchased 4 MW components.

Several of the projects will feature a mixed site configuration consisting of both V150-4.2 MW and V136-3.6 MW turbines. With a tip height of 178.7 meters, the V150-4.2 MW turbines at the projects will feature Vestas’ tallest turbines in the U.S.

“The V150-4.2 MW is one of the highest producing onshore wind turbines in the industry and unlocks greater wind potential in previously untapped wind resource areas”, said Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the United States and Canada. “The multi-technology configuration of the sites demonstrates Vestas’ products’ flexibility and adaptability, which enable customised solutions for every site”.

The order includes supply and commissioning of the turbines as well as multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreements for each project, designed to maximise uptime and energy production and ensure optimised performance for the lifetime of the project.

Project construction will begin in the third quarter of 2019.
